How to Give Back This New Year
Blessing Health • January 5, 2021

“Giving back” means different things to different people, and all interpretations of the phrase have merit. Although that’s the case, giving back has taken on a new meaning for many in 2021, in the context of helping others at least, thanks to the ongoing global pandemic.
Given social distancing guidelines, volunteering in-person isn’t possible in many instances, for example. Even donating cash may not be as simple as it was just a year ago.
New Ways to Give Back
Clearly, giving back in 2021 is fraught with difficulties no one could have predicted 12 months ago. While that’s true, it doesn’t mean helping people is impossible. It simply means the paradigm for giving back in the New Year has shifted a bit. And that shift represents new opportunities for willing participants to help others in new, creative ways.
Volunteer in a Virtual Space
No matter what skill set you have, it’s likely you can give back by volunteering in a virtual space. If you’re a writer, you can draft content for marginalized small businesses or nonprofits. Tradespeople can create tutorials showing homeowners how to address simple DIY tasks on their own. Yoga instructors can host free classes on a readily accessible platform like Zoom.
If you don’t have the time to lend your services online, you can still give back virtually. You can promote an action-driven charitable foundation
like ours using social media, for instance. Alternatively, you can purchase goods or services online from local businesses that might be struggling and post reviews on relevant websites for others to read.
Write Letters
The start of a new year can be overwhelming for some, particularly for people who might feel as if they’re all alone and/or facing intimidating odds. To ease their insecurity, consider writing letters to the elderly, incarcerated individuals, or essential workers to remind them that they’re not alone and that they are appreciated and valued.
Donate Online
Many nonprofits, including our Quincy, IL foundation, have recognized that the charitable landscape has changed at least temporarily as the result of COVID-19. As part of that evolution, charities like ours have made it simpler than ever to make nonprofit donations online.
If you’re looking for a way to give back to launch the New Year and lend support year-round, we invite you to make a donation to Blessing Foundation using our secure portal. Your donation will help us continue to be there for area residents during their most difficult moments, ensuring they have access to the medical care and resources necessary for them to live their best lives despite their trying circumstances.
As always, 100 percent of your donation to Blessing Foundation
will go to those in need. Give back with an online donation today!
